I am flying to Tokyo, to meet Matt on his Great Adventure. An expression of envy and a kind offer, over dinner a few weeks ago, had nerves conquered and a flight booked.
I have a day in Tokyo then we take the train south and spend time in Osaka, Hiroshima, Okayama, and Kyoto before returning to Tokyo. In another fit of bravery, I’ve booked a night alone, in Kanazawa, to visit the Kenroken garden – one of the top three in Japan.
This is my first time, travelling solo, and it is only one flight but I will spend 14 hours sitting next to a stranger and lose a night’s sleep. I may be a little grumpy when I arrive and Matt may put me straight back on a plane home. Only time will tell…..
